Sophie and Matthew’s Whitby wedding day was super special. It was filled with so much love and joy – and also their dog. Which was definitely one of my favourite parts of course! Couples bringing their pets always immediately makes a wedding 10x better. It’s taken me a while to share this one as I get so busy during wedding season that it’s hard to keep track of which weddings I have blogged. So here it is for all your viewing pleasure.
The colourful florals from Lush and Land were all local and organic flowers which really made the day so beautiful. The colours really brightened up every space they touched. I also particularly loved the floral arch as you walked up to the tipi.
After the bride and bridesmaids got ready at The Cart House, they made their way over to Christchurch in Westerdale. It was a heart felt ceremony with not many dry eyes by the end of it. Although I wasn’t allowed to move from my spot I was still able to get a great range of images from the whole ceremony. A lot of the times there are restrictions placed on the photographer at church weddings, but I always try my best to still get as many compositions as I can.
They then walked through a lot of dried petal confetti that Sophie lovingly made herself, down to the bottom of the church where they threw pennies for the children. This is a local tradition where the couple are ‘trapped’ in the church yard until they pay the children by throwing coins. Once the children are paid, they let them out and they are free to live as a married couple!
The huge tipi that Sophie and Daniel had so lovingly decorated was on their family farm in Whitby. When I say it was stunning, you just have to look at the photos to believe it. It was a bit of a challenge to find when I drove there, but when I arrived the expansive Yorkshire countryside views just took my breath away. There was no question why they chose here to celebrate with their guests.
The tables were all named after different birds, and again there were beautiful florals everywhere and all along the tables. There was a self-serve gin bar, lawn games and live music. It was everything you could want from a summer wedding. I really hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed photographing it!
Claire was amazing. She fit in so well on the day and made us feel incredibly comfortable. And the photos we received were absolutely stunning- we were completely amazed at how well they turned out and were so glad we chose Claire! She is so talented. Absolutely would recommend 100%. Thanks Claire!
