Having a job as a wedding photographer means that I get to see and do a lot of wonderful things that most people wouldn’t be able to do on your average day. The day I went to Brimham Rocks to see San and Helen was not an average day. It was actually a day that was several weeks in the making, including calls to plan and execute the perfect surprise engagement. It meant picking the perfect spot (including the perfect rock) so that when Sam popped the question at their Brimham Rocks engagement shoot, everything would be perfect for Helen to say yes.
To avoid being detected while holding a rather large professional camera, I brought along my own fiance as a ruse. I wanted to seem like I was just a tourist photographing the views. Which, in my opinion, would be totally justified as the views are completely and utterly beautiful. It’s like that everywhere in Yorkshire to be honest – we’re very lucky! You can’t go wrong with a Brimham Rocks engagement shoot for the views.
Thankfully Helen said yes, and for a few minutes I don’t even think she realised I was there! This meant I could really get their true reactions, and capture the moments that they spent together after making such an important decision.
We got some shots with the beautiful views and then made our way down the rocks to get some more shots. All in all it was a beautiful day and I would love to capture more surprise engagements. If you’re looking for someone to help you plan and photograph the big question, feel free to get in touch.
