The Faversham is an iconic Leeds venue, and one that Jenessa and Kevin chose due to it’s musical past. Even bands such as Radiohead have played here, so what better place to get hitched for two people who absolutely love all things music. Their wedding day started in the conservatory at The Faversham for their ceremony. The ceremony backdrop consisted of a beautiful rust coloured banner handmade by Tanya at Daydreamer Creative Studio. I fell in love with the colour combination and how well this worked with all of the greens on the ceiling of the conservatory. This perfectly complimented the styling from Shindig Event Styling, consisting of lots of floor candles and florals. It all worked together so well and created the perfect atmosphere for their intimate service.
After their wonderful ceremony, myself and the newlyweds made our way over to Leeds University, which is right next door to The Faversham. The couple spent a lot of time here together when they were studying and wanted to incorporate it into their images. I was excited to create some fun photos with this iconic brutalist architecture, right in the heart of Leeds. We had a wander around and got some fun and relaxed shots around the buildings and steps. We then made our way back over to the venue where their guests were getting settled in for dinner.
The reception was held in the main room at the venue. It was dressed beautifully again by Shindig Event Styling with lots of tall dinner candles and rust linens adorning the table. The speeches on their day were really memorable because they brought lots of guests to tears, which always makes for great photographs! The best thing about photographing a wedding day is capturing all of those emotions as they unfold. Something I know Jenessa and Kevin were really excited about (including myself) was the incredibly delicious sharing Pavlovas which all the guests indulged in for dessert. The food here is seriously good! Hope you enjoy the images from this incredible wedding.
We really couldn’t have asked for any more from Claire on our wedding day. She was fun and personable with our guests but also uncannily good at getting the more discreet shots without anyone noticing, leaving us with a lovely mix of candid and posed photos. As two people who don’t necessarily feel mega-comfortable in front of a camera, she was really good at helping us to pose naturally for our couple shots, and thoughtful about how she could bring movement or integrate different backdrops, persevering through rain and wind. She paid attention to our shot list and was great at rallying people into position, but was also clear with us about what might not be possible timewise, allowing us to make informed calls about what to prioritise. Despite a busy season, she was a great communicator throughout and turned around both our preview shots and full gallery really quickly. For the quality, professionalism and kindness of her work, I think she charges an incredibly reasonable price, and I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for wedding photos that accurately capture the unique mood, colours and personality of the day. Thanks Claire!
