When I stepped into The Woodlands Hotel in Leeds to photograph a wedding, little did I know I was about to enter a photographer’s paradise. Natural light floods the venue’s ceremony and orangery spaces through the expansive windows and skylights. This created an ambiance that was nothing short of magical. As a photographer, finding a setting like this is a dream come true. It set the stage for Katie & Luke’s day filled with their friends and family.
The ceremony unfolded in a space where light played a starring role. The well-lit surroundings added an ethereal glow to the couple’s vows, making each moment a picture-perfect frame. The orangery, with its abundance of natural light, provided a stunning backdrop for the ceremony and candid shots of guests interacting.
Following the heartfelt ceremony, the celebration spilled into the enchanting gardens for the drinks reception. The outdoor setting added a touch of nature’s beauty to the festivities. Amidst the architecture of this old stately home and the cheers of lawn games, guests toasted to the newlyweds creating an atmosphere that was both lively and intimate.
As guests gathered around tables for the reception, they were greeted by a unique and personalised touch. The tables were named after the couple’s favourite characters from TV shows they had enjoyed together, like Prison Break and Breaking Bad. This thoughtful detail not only added a touch of nostalgia but also sparked conversations among the guests, making a great ice breaker!
As evening fell, so did the rain (that’s Yorkshire for you!). However, instead of dampening spirits, it added a romantic touch to the celebration and meant we could get some great evening rain shots. Embracing the unexpected weather, we ventured outside. The rain-kissed shots turned out to be some of my fave shots of the day and I am so glad we went for it. Hoep you enjoy the images!
